I can't believe how quickly 2022 has flown by. It seems like only yesterday it was March 2020 and we were all being sent home for what was supposed to be 2 weeks which turned into 2 years. I remember recording my first few episodes of The Run Wave Podcast just a couple weeks prior, and flash forward a couple more months and America was suddenly "woke" and everything had changed. The spring/summer of 2020 was so monumental for so many people, for so many powerful reasons. It was also when Mid Strike Magazine was born. A conversation with Jesse, Founder of Mid Strike Magazine about the lack of inclusivity in the running community birthed this wonderful digital publication that we have all grown to know and love.
2022 was sort of a come back year for me. Running was put on the back burner during the big C while I discovered new passions, and re-discovered old ones that I hadn't realized that I missed. Mid Strike keeps me connected to the running community whether I am running or not. I love that I get to learn about new, diverse, runners that are actually real people, and not just "celebrity runners", or "run influencers" being used for clicks and likes. This magazine feels like a home for us. Telling our stories, from our perspective, is pivotal in keeping the diverse running community at the forefront of peoples minds.
