Jessica Crockett: Six Star Class of 2024
MSM: What made you want to tackle the marathon?

Jessica: Running a marathon sounded like a good bucket list item. I was new to running and it helped me lose a little weight. I figured I would do one and cross it off of my bucket list.

MSM: There are marathons and then there are majors which have a different vibe all together. Take us through the feelings of running that first world major and crossing the finish on the last one. Also, when did you know that you wanted to capture all 6 marathon majors?

Jessica: I completed my first major (Chicago) before I knew it was a WMM. It was so different from my first marathon. The crowds were massive, and everything was exciting. While it was so hot that year, I knew I wanted to run Chicago again. I’ve felt the same way after finishing each major, even though I told myself I’m done with running full marathons after Tokyo. I heard about WMM at the NYCM expo in 2015 Since I already wanted to do Boston, it sounded like something cool to do.  I officially decided to go for all six majors after I got into Berlin. At that time, I already completed Chicago and New York, so Berlin would make three.

MSM: We’ve spoken about the races and running the majors but what has this experience felt like to you, the journey, struggles and training. Give our readers some insight into what those feelings were like going from marathon to marathon, I’m sure each one has a different story and perspective.

Jessica: I tend to do the most, but this journey tested my limits multiple times. I would always enter the race lotteries for fun, not thinking I would get a spot, especially knowing how competitive they were. I entered the Berlin marathon lottery when I was pregnant, again, not thinking I would get chosen and of course, that was the year I got a spot. The race was nine months after I gave birth, so training was difficult. It was my slowest major.

Being able to balance life and running while keeping the goal of obtaining the six star is an amazing feat. Jessica Crockett, we salute you sis, welcome to the six star family.
