Lauren Bee Yoga – Black owned business spotlight

I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren through James Peronel during the marathon season in 2021 prior to our Mid Strike Magazine shakeout run. One thing as runners we tend not to do enough of is stretch. Stretching plays a huge part in our success in running and if we avoid it can lead to some nagging injuries, trust me I know. When Lauren and I spoke prior to the run her soft tone made me a bit nervous, Soft toned Yogi’s usually end up stretching you in parts you never thought could be stretched lol. Lauren led our post run stretch, and I will say I came out much better than when I went into the run. Over the past few months Lauren has been in the process of opening her own studio in Wilmington NC and trust if I’m in the area I will be stopping by. This month our Black owned business spotlight in this women's empowerment issue highlights Lauren Bee of Lauren Bee Massage Therapy.

LB: Although it was a tough one, my very first half marathon was City of Oaks in Raleigh in 2009. It was cold, the course was challenging, and it poured down raining the entire time, but it is near the top of my favorites because once I completed that race I finally felt like a runner. New York marathon had the best overall experience and the Disney Princess half marathon I loved because I got to dress up like Princess Jasmine and see all the characters along the course.
